What is a growth and income fund?
A growth and income fund is a type of mutual fund that invests primarily in large-cap stocks (the common stocks of established U.S. companies with a history of steadily growing earnings and reliable dividends). These funds may also hold corporate or government bonds, convertible bonds, and/or corporate preferred stock.

Growth and income funds tend to be well diversified, and are good for relatively conservative investors who want long-term growth.

You should remember that, as a rule, it is never a good idea to invest in any fund until you read its prospectus and understand the risks involved.
